They say you always remember your first. If that’s true, then remember this face. Brad Smith is our first Bachelor Canada and he’s looking for love this fall on Citytv. Yes, now I kind of wish I had tried out to be one of his bachelorettes. But you don’t have to wait until the fall to find out more about our handsome bachelor. I had a chance to ask him a few questions and it turns out he’s as sweet as he looks.

Do you think you’ll meet your future wife on The Bachelor Canada?
That’s the reason why I am going on the show! If I didn’t think that there was ability to find someone special for me, I wouldn’t be doing it!

Being Canadian, what do you hope the show will highlight to separate it from he other franchises?
Truly just that! Being Canadian. We tend to be a more laid back and carefree country who embraces our differences. I will definitely try and bring my carefree nature to the show!

Do you have a specific “type” of woman you are looking for?
I really don’t. For me each girl brings something to the table regardless of the statsheet a person might have. I always take each woman on a case by case basis. I don’t want to miss out on great girls because they are missing a quality I’d prefer.

Do you have any deal breakers?
I really don’t. But I’d prefer that the girls have brothers, so that they know what guys are like on a day-to-day basis.

What key qualities does your dream girl have?
Easy going, carefree and low maintenance.

What’s your strategy for ensuring you’re getting the most real/genuine version of these women?
Just being myself and insuring that I make them comfortable enough to be themselves around me.

Is your family excited for your journey?
My parents are elated. It’s very exciting for them to see me having an opportunity that’s truly my own.

What are you most excited for in this Bachelor experience?
Just meeting all these different women that have put their normal lives on hold to meet the Bachelor!

How did you get involved in the show?
My best friend’s girlfriend. Got in touch with the casting team through a family friend and told them they had to get in touch with me and that I’d be perfect. I had no clue!

Do you anticipate proposing at the end of this experience?
I hope so. That’s the idea that makes me so excited about this entire process!
